What is an unlock credit and what does unlocking mean?

An unlock credit is intended for Premium members (Basic or Plus). It lets you unlock a conversation with a free member once that member has reached their messaging limit.

In an unlocked conversation, the following applies until the following Monday at 00:00:

The free member can send unlimited messages
Both sides may share contact details
Both sides can video chat

After Monday 00:00, the unlock expires and a new credit is needed to continue. The unlock also ends earlier if the Premium member loses their subscription. Unlocking has nothing to do with a blocked account. Free members cannot buy credits themselves.

How do I get or buy unlock credits?

This depends on your subscription:

Premium Plus : automatically receives 1 free credit every Monday at 00:00. This credit cannot be saved up.
Premium Basic and Plus : can buy extra credits via the unlock credits page in your account.

Free members cannot buy credits, but can upgrade to a Premium subscription themselves.

How do I unlock a conversation?

Go to the conversation you want to unlock
You'll see the message "Unlock this conversation" with a button
Click the button
1 credit will be used
The conversation is now unlocked until Monday 00:00

Don't see a button? This may be because:

The other member hasn't reached their messaging limit yet
The other member is also Premium, so unlocking isn't needed
You yourself are not a Premium member

If you're unable to type in a conversation yourself, something else is going on, for example that you, as a free member, have reached your own limit.

What does the free member see when a conversation is unlocked?

The free member sees a message stating that the other member is making this conversation possible by paying, with an invitation to upgrade themselves.

Once the unlock expires, after Monday 00:00, the Premium member receives a message that the unlock has ended. At that point, the Premium member can choose to extend it with a new credit, or wait for the other member to upgrade themselves.
