Do I need to verify my profile and how does it work?
Verification is not compulsory for most members. However, it does give you a trust badge on your profile, greater visibility and more trust from other members. You don't need to be verified to chat or match.
There are two ways to earn the badge:
- Video verification : via My Profile → Verification, you record a short live video in your browser in which you carry out a task and move your head. This is automatically compared with your profile photos. If you don't yet have a profile photo, our team will assess the video itself. A photo is therefore not compulsory. After that, our team reviews the video.
- Payment verification : you receive this badge automatically after a successful payment.
Selfie verification with a photo and code, ID verification with proof of identity, and phone verification no longer exist. Any selfie or ID badges obtained previously have expired. If you'd like the badge, please complete video verification.
What do the verification badges on other members' profiles mean?
You may come across three levels on a profile:
- Verified : identity has been checked via a live video verification or a successful payment.
- Manually approved : the profile has been checked by our moderation team.
- Not yet verified : checked automatically only. Please exercise extra caution here.
An incomplete or new profile doesn't automatically mean it's fake. Do watch out for warning signs such as quickly asking for contact details or money, or pushing to move the conversation to WhatsApp. Never transfer money, always arrange to meet in a public place for a first meeting, and report any suspicious behaviour.
Why do I need to record a video before I can use 50dating.com?
For extra safety, we ask some members to complete a short, compulsory video verification once. Until this has been approved, you will only see the verification page and nothing else on the platform. This is different from the optional video introduction you can add to your profile separately.
How to record the video:
- Go to the verification page and start recording. This takes around two minutes.
- Move your head slowly from left to right. A still photo will be rejected.
- Make sure you have good lighting and that your face is fully visible and matches your profile photos.
Our team reviews the video manually. Once it has been approved, you will regain access to your account.
My camera or microphone isn't working during the video recording, what can I do?
- Close other apps that are using the camera.
- Refresh the page fully (Ctrl+F5) or restart your browser.
- Allow camera and microphone access at browser level, not just on the page. If you're using Safari, go to Settings → Safari → Camera.
- Try a different browser, for example Chrome or Safari.
- Update your browser to the latest version.
