Matches and Likes

Here's how weekly matches, mutual matches and likes work on 50dating.com.

What's the difference between weekly matches and mutual matches?

These are two different things.

  • Weekly matches (also known as Anna's suggestions or This week for you) are proposals from the algorithm. You haven't liked each other yet, and you decide whether to like or pass.
  • Mutual matches only occur once you've both liked each other. You'll find these under Matches, or via Activity, Likes, filter Matches.

Weekly matches are one-sided: the suggested person doesn't receive a notification and doesn't know they've been suggested to you.

Why am I not receiving (m)any weekly matches?

To receive weekly matches, all of the following conditions must be met:

  • Your account is active and you've logged in within the past 6 months
  • Your email address is verified
  • Receive emails is switched on in your email preferences
  • Gender and year of birth are filled in
  • Your search preferences are set
  • You have at least 1 approved photo (a photo under review doesn't count)
  • The lifestyle questionnaire is fully completed (6 required fields)

A fully completed profile percentage isn't a strict requirement. In addition, there need to be enough members within your filters who have been active in the past 14 days. Filters that are too strict, such as a narrow age range, a small distance, or only verified members, are the most common cause of few matches.

Where do I find my weekly matches?

On desktop, you'll find them via the dashboard, in the Your Weekly Matches section, or via the navigation bar under Search, Weekly Matches. On mobile, tap the home icon and then Your Weekly Matches.

Weekly matches don't expire. You can like or pass on them at any time.

How do I like someone, and how do I see who's liked me?

Click or tap the heart icon on a profile to show your interest. If the other person likes you back, a mutual match is created.

  • Sending likes is unlimited for all members
  • Free members can only see the number of likes received
  • Premium members can see exactly who's liked them, via Activity, Likes

Can I undo a like?

No, a like that's been given is final. There's no unlike function, and a like cannot be reversed via the contact form either.

Did you accidentally like someone? You're not obliged to respond. You can simply ignore the person, or block them if necessary.

How do I decline or undo a match?

This depends on the type of match:

  • For a weekly match, you can choose to pass. The suggestion will then disappear from your overview.
  • For a mutual match, or if you're experiencing unwanted contact, you can block the person. You can also hide the conversation.

Why does almost no one visit or respond to my profile?

The most important factors for visibility are, in order:

  1. Your profile photo: make sure it's clear, smiling, recent, and showing your face, and use 3 to 5 photos
  2. Completeness of your profile: aim for at least 85%, including the lifestyle questionnaire and a personal bio
  3. Activity: log in regularly, view profiles yourself and send likes
  4. Search preferences: don't set these too strictly

For extra visibility, you can use a Boost. This puts you at the top of search results for 1 hour. A complete profile demonstrably attracts more serious responses.

What is Spotlight, and why can't I see anything there?

You'll find Spotlight via Search, Spotlight. This shows profiles of members who have boosted their profile in the past 7 days. The page refreshes 4 times a day, at 08:00, 12:00, 16:00 and 20:00, and is grouped by day. These are members who are actively looking.

Can't see anything in your Spotlight? There may not have been any recent boosts in your region matching your filters, or your email preferences may be switched off. If you'd like to appear in Spotlight yourself, activate a Boost.
