How do I upload a photo to my profile?
You can easily add a photo via your profile.
- On computer: go to My Profile in the navigation bar, click Manage Photos, choose Upload New Photo and select your file.
- On mobile: tap your profile photo at the top to go to My Profile, choose Manage Photos, tap Upload New Photo and select Gallery or Camera.
You can also go directly to Manage Photos via /photo-management. You may upload a maximum of 5 photos per profile. Allowed file types are JPG, JPEG, PNG and WebP, with a maximum size of 15 MB and a minimum dimension of 400x400 pixels. The first approved photo automatically becomes your profile photo, but you can set a different photo as your main photo later.
How long does it take for my photo to be approved?
Every uploaded photo is first checked automatically and, where necessary, reviewed manually afterwards. This usually happens within 24 hours. Premium members are given priority.
A photo can have three statuses:
- Pending
- Approved
- Rejected, with a reason given
While a photo is pending, it does not yet count as an approved photo. This may mean you cannot chat or match until the photo has been approved.
Which photos can and can't I use?
Clear guidelines apply for an approved photo.
What is allowed:
- Your face clearly and fully visible
- Only yourself in the photo, with any other people made unrecognisable
- A recent photo, no older than 1 to 2 years
- Good quality with no heavy filters
- Selfies, outdoor photos, hobby or holiday photos, and photos with your pet
- Sunglasses, as long as your face remains recognisable
- Swimwear at the beach or by a pool
What is always rejected:
- Other recognisable people or children, even if made unrecognisable
- Personal details visible, such as an address, number plate or document
- Nudity, underwear or lingerie
- Sexually suggestive poses
- Weapons, drugs or prominently visible alcohol or smoking
- Hateful symbols
- Photos without a visible face
- Screenshots, photos of photos or stock photos
- Photos of someone other than yourself
Why was my photo rejected?
A photo is usually rejected for one of these reasons:
- Your face is not clearly visible
- Other people or children appear in the photo
- The photo is too old or no longer current
- The photo is too blurry, dark or grainy
- The content does not meet the photo guidelines
- It is not a genuine photo of yourself
You can find the exact reason for rejection next to the photo itself on Manage Photos. The solution is to upload a new photo that does meet the guidelines.
I can't upload my photo, what can I do?
First check the following:
- You haven't already added 5 photos. If you have, delete an old photo first.
- The file type is JPG, JPEG, PNG or WebP. GIF, HEIC and BMP do not work.
- The file is no larger than 15 MB.
- The photo is at least 400x400 pixels.
If it still doesn't work, try fully refreshing the page, using a different browser, clearing your browser cache, or checking that your internet connection is stable. Often the photo has already been uploaded and is pending review. Check this first on Manage Photos.
How do I view a photo enlarged on a profile?
Click or tap the photo to open it full size.
- On computer: use the arrows to move to the next photo, and click the X or outside the photo to close it.
- On mobile: swipe left or right to browse through the photos, and tap the X or swipe down to close it.
What are private photos?
On 50dating.com, a photo can have one of three types: profile photo (your main photo), public photo (visible in your gallery) or private photo.
A private photo is not visible to other members. Only you can see this photo. A private photo therefore also does not count as a public photo on your profile.
