Deleting your account

Here's how to delete or pause your account, and what happens to your data afterwards.

How do I delete my account?

You can delete your account via your settings.

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Scroll down in the left-hand menu to Danger Zone
  3. Choose Delete Account
  4. Fill in the short questionnaire
  5. Click the red Delete Account button at the bottom

On mobile, tap the gear icon at the top, then Account and Danger Zone .

Your profile is immediately hidden and deactivated. If you have Premium, deleting your account also stops the renewal. If you only want to stop paying but remain visible, simply switch off automatic renewal instead.

Can I pause my account temporarily instead of deleting it?

Yes. If you'd like a break from dating without losing your account, you can pause it instead.

  1. Go to Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account
  2. Choose the option Pause my account

While paused, your profile is hidden and you won't receive any notifications. Your profile, photos and conversations are kept for 12 months, after which they are deleted. An active Premium subscription continues until its end date but will not renew. People you've been chatting with will see that you're paused. You can return simply by logging back in. If you choose to delete your account instead, your data will be permanently erased after 3 months.

Is my account permanently gone straight after deleting it?

No. Deletion works like a withdrawal with a retention period.

  • Your profile is hidden from others immediately
  • Your data is only permanently deleted after 3 months
  • Within those 3 months, you can reactivate your account yourself by logging in again with your email address and password, or via a login link from an email. You'll then see a reactivation screen

If your account was deleted by Epic Internet B.V. rather than by yourself, you won't be able to reactivate it yourself. In that case, please get in touch via the contact form. After 3 months, recovery is no longer possible.

Why can't I sign up again with my old email address?

Within 3 months of withdrawing your account, your email address remains reserved. If you try to register again, you'll see a message saying the email address is already in use.

In that case, don't create a new account. Log in with your old details to reactivate your account, or get in touch via the contact form if that doesn't work.

I received an email saying my account has been withdrawn, but it still seems active. How is that possible?

The email with the subject "Your account has been withdrawn" (before August 2026: "Account successfully deleted") is only sent when an account is actually withdrawn.

If an account still appears active or payments are still being made afterwards, this is usually due to a different account. For example, an account with a different email address, an account on another site, or an account that has since been reactivated.

If you're not sure what's happening, please get in touch via the contact form. We can then check together which email address you're logged in with and when that account was created.

How do I request my data or have it permanently deleted (GDPR)?

You can request a copy of your data or ask for it to be permanently deleted. Please get in touch via the contact form. This will be handled within 30 days.

Most information can already be updated yourself via your profile and settings. Your email address, incidentally, is never visible to other members.
